April should be another exciting month for gospel quartet fans.  There are many gospel quartet concerts scheduled around the Easter Holiday weekend.  And, several artists are slated to release new projects this month. 

The Six Voices Of Zion (Of Columbia, SC) has released a new CD titled Church Song. There are eight (8) songs on the project. The project is somewhat of a tribute to their former lead singer, the late Charles Brown. Fans of traditional gospel music will want find and add this project to their collection.

One of the groups that never, never fail to deliver great music is The Clark Brothers. And, their new CD does not disappoint. The project is entitled Thank You Lord. This is a “live” concert recording. The concert took place at Tuskegee Municipal Complex, Tuskegee, AL. Listen to the entire CD at Gloryland Gospel Quartet Radio.

The Chosen Few Of Omaha most recent single is “Mainline.” The single was produced by Courtney Jackson and Darnell Williams. This one will have you feet moving. Get ready to get your praise on. Listen to the single at Gloryland Gospel Quartet Radio.

Mention the name “Bill Allen” to any gospel music fan and immediately they will probably be ready to share nuggets about the music of the Legendary Gospelaires. Well, Mr. Allen is keeping the Gospelaires' style of traditional gospel music alive. A few years ago he released the project If You Don’t Want To Go. February is sure to be another great month for gospel quartet music. Several groups are scheduled to release new projects this month.  Also, once again, one of the major events this month will be the Family Fest in Albany, GA.  This year The Fantastic Violinaires, Troy Ramey & The Soul Searchers, and Doc McKenzie & The Hi-Lites are scheduled to perform at the Family Fest.

February is the month set aside to “formally” celebrate Black History. Most fans of traditional gospel quartet music actually celebrate Black History every time they play their favorite recording from the past. During this month, take the opportunity to share this aspect of Black History with someone. Tell them about the richness of this music. Tell them about the trials and tribulations the gospel quartet singers from the past had to endure to keep this music alive.

Tell them how The Bells Of Joy, The Caravans, The Sensational Nightingales, The Swanee Quintet, The Salem Travelers, The Dixie Hummingbirds, The Gospelaires, The Pilgrim Travelers, The Swan Silvertones, The Victory Travelers, The Gospel Harmonettes, and so many others, paved the way for the gospel artists of today.  Don’t miss an opportunity to talk about the History.  And, for the groups and singers that will be performing (ministering) this month, why not incorporate a song or two from the pioneers of Gospel Quartet Music into your performance (service).  What a great way to educate (or at least enlighten) your audience.

Just Received two (2) outstanding projects from a very dear friend of Gloryland Gospel from the country of Sweden. The projects are on the Gospel Friend Records label.  They are:

1.  Edna Gallmon Cooke, My Joy. This is a compilation of 26 rare recordings from Madame Cooke. The songs were recorded between 1948 and 1966. Along, with the CD, there is a 12-page booklet that should be in every collector's library.

2. Best Of Proverb & Gospel Corner Records 1959 - 1969. There are two (2) CDs with twenty-six (26) songs on each. What a collection! From the Mighty Clouds Of Joy to the Gospel Tones of Las Vegas, this project contains songs that are truly rare. And, in many instance these songs have not been heard by the public in over forty (40) years. In fact, it is probably safe to say, many fans of the gospel quartet genre have never heard of many of the groups on this project.  The project also contains a twenty (20) page booklet that is packed with historical notes about this genre.

We've been informed that the Spencer Taylor & The Highway QC's are working on a new single that should be released soon.  Be on the look out for The Legend's new single.

Just received the new CD by George McAllister And The D. C. Knights. The project is titled Sure Thing. And, it is a sure thing that if you like traditional gospel music, you will enjoy this project.
