Greg Botts. Remember that name—Greg Botts. Greg is the lead singer for the Compton, California, based gospel quartet group The Starlights; the same Starlights that we featured during our special Thanksgiving Day Broadcast.
With his unique vocal versatility, Greg could very easily move into R&B and become a great solo artist. If The Temptations needed a new lead singer, Greg could fit the bill, without skipping a beat. And, if he was available, he would elevate the status of any gospel quartet group on the road today.
The talents of Greg and The Starlights, in general, have been recognized by many in the music industry. The group has performed in other countries, opened for many legendary R&B groups, and has sung for the Pope. Through it all, they have remained true to their calling to “sing the Gospel.” Of course, singing is in Greg’s blood. His father, Henry Botts, was a member of the legendary Pilgrim Travelers.
On Sunday, November 29, 2015, the legendary lady of gospel Shirley Caesar, along with The Mighty Clouds of Joy were in concert at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach, CA. Greg was called upon to serve in the capacity of second lead for The Clouds. As many know, Joe Ligon is not well. Having an extraordinary singer like Greg to assist The Clouds would ensure that the group did not skip a beat just in case Joe needed to call on Greg.
As fate would have it, Greg had to take over lead duties during The Clouds’ opening song. And, from there it was a toe tapping, hand clapping, foot stomping, spirit-filled celebration. Greg, along with Richard Wallace and Dwight Gordon, gave the audience one of the best gospel quartet concerts to appear in the area in ages. Greg's performance with The Clouds was so strong that he was invited to fill in at other concerts while the group is on the west coast. As Joe continues to mend, rest assured that this temporary arrangement between The Clouds and Gregg Botts will help The Mighty Clouds of Joy continue to deliver the unique version of quartet gospel that their fans look forward to hearing.

Well, the last month of the year is upon us. It has been a very active (and good) year for gospel quartet music. And, this month, from a gospel quartet standpoint, is sure to be just as active as the past eleven.

November is here! And, the ‘holiday’ season is fast approaching. However, this has not slowed down the number of gospel quartet concerts around the country. When we look at the itineraries of many Gospel Quartet artists it is apparent that promoters and fans are still excited about this music.

Just received the projects from 4Clouds Records of their new artists Visionz Of Destiny and Cedric Bennett And Chosen. Cedric Bennet And Chosen project is titled God's Got It. And, Visionz Of Destiny have two (2) projects – Still Standing and Destiny Transformed. All of the projects are very impressive. The young ladies of Visionz Of Destiny deliver rfreshing arrangements to some of the staple of Gospel Music.

Percy Griffin, Lead Singer of the Legendary Swanee Quintet dies.
It is with heavy hearts that the Malaco Music Group announces the passing of Mr. Percy Griffin. Percy was the lead singer of the Swanee Quintet for 50 years. While with the Swanees, Percy recorded a number of chart topping songs, which included; “Ups and Downs”, “The Lord Will Provide”, “Dr. Jesus” and “Eternal Life.” He will definitely be missed by his family, friends, fans and The Swanee Quintet.

Minister Brian Mayes (of Brain Mayes & Heavenbound) is the President and CEO of Jump Start Movement. Not only is the organization very active in the Camden, South Carolina, community, it has garnered a national following for its programs geared toward youths. The origination was recently featured on one of the television networks that covers the Camden area.
In addtion to the outreach programs, Jump Start has a fully equipped recording studio. Several national artists have lend their voices and musical talents to songs being recorded at the studio. Many of the young people in the area are being introduce to the music industry, not only as artists, but technicians and junior executives. The organization recently started their own 24/7 online broadcast. Along with gospel music, they serve the listening taste of young people worldwide. We encourage gospel quartet groups (and singers) to announce from the stage that they want their fans to call their local radio station and request their music. This has to be done regularly. Once, is not enough. Every time you stand before an audience, ask them to call their local radio station and request to hear your song on the radio. And, tell those present what song to request. If this is done, it just might get radio stations to start playing more gospel quartet music. It is worth the effort.

The ladies have a special
sisterhood bond that is evident both on and off stage. “Singing with the
group brings lots of fun and laughter and I wouldn’t trade my sisters for
anyone in the world,” said Tyler. They pride themselves on living what they
sing about. “We embrace true worship on and off stage,” said LaQuandra
Stayley, “We strive daily to live a life that exemplifies and draws others

However, it is just beginning to garner the attention it rightfully deserve. It is an outstanding project. The title track will is very appropriate for a 'time like this.'
