Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC's

Soulful Healing

This month we review the compilation CD of Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s.  This CD is titled Soulful Healing.  In describing this new offering, Mr. James Bullard of MCG Records states that Soulful Healing "is a collection of songs that will touch your heart and heal your soul.”  After listening to this CD, we believe you will agree with Mr. Bullard’s assessment.

It is important to keep in mind that this is a compilation CD.  However, there is one previously not released song on the CD, and that is the first track – “When You Gonna Wake Up.”  This song was written by Bob Dylan.  After listing each song, there is a comment about the song that attempts to reflect the essence of what is being conveyed by the song. The comment for this song states “The message in this Bob Dylan song is so deep and strong, I encourage you to listen with your heart.”

The second track is “Cooling Waters.” This song was a tremendous hit for not only
Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s, but also for The Williams Brothers. It is certainly fitting to have this song on a CD that focuses on Soulful Healing.

The first of the songs that gives Lee the opportunity to tell a biblical story is “In The Midnight Hours.” The song is divided into two (2) parts, probably for radio airplay purposes. The comments for this song invites you to listen carefully and your will hear why the midnight hour is so significant scripturally and why it appears many prayers are answered during the Midnight Hour

Bless Me Jesus” is described as “A very happy song. Jesus will bless each of us if only we will ask Him.”

I’m Gonna Make It” sounds just as exciting as it did on the Good Time project.  This song reminds us that it should not matter what others say “I’m Gonna Make It.”

Jesus Made A Way” is the next track.  The comments to this song remind us that Jesus death and resurrection has already made a way for us to join our heavenly Father.  All we have to do is live the life.

The notes to “Thank You” is very thought provoking.  It states “Lord I do Thank You because if you had not chosen me to do your work through gospel music, I don’t know which path in life I would have chosen – Thank You.”

Good Time” is next. What can be said about this song that has not already been said? So, just set back and have a Good Time listening to not only this song, but to the entire project.

Hold On” has got to be among one of the best song done by this group.  The song is divided into two (2) parts.  The song simply encourages you to have a little faith (remember the mustard seed) and “Hold On,” for whatever you are going through is bound to get better if you indeed exercise your faith and “Hold On.”

Wonderful” is from the Right On Time project. And it is indeed wonderful to have this song on this compilation. Lee’s storytelling abilities are also showcased on this song.

The song on this CD is “Don’t Wait.” It is also divided into two (2) tracks. The comment to this song pleads with us to “Don’t let this happen to you, your family, friends, Loved ones, and neighbors.”  In other words, don’t wait until it is to late to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

As you can see from the list of songs chosen for this project, all of the QC’s previously projects on the MCG label are represented, except for Tell The Angels.  In addition, Lee, second lead man Leonard Shumpert and the QC's drummer Patrick Hollis all get the opportunity sing lead and minister to you as only can be done by the
Spiritual QC’s.

You will find that the production is excellent.  For a compilation CD, the vocals are very clear.  The CD actually sounds like it was recently recorded, instead of consisting of previously recorded song.

This is a great compilation CD.  Fans of Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s will not be disappointed with this CD.   We give Soulful Healing by Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s a 9 out of 10. This project is available everywhere.   You can also order it online by clicking Soulful Healing.  Click on the title to hear "Jesus Made A Way."
