Keith Wonderboy Johnson

Presents

The Spiritual Voices and Friends

Unity

There is one consistency in any recording by Keith Wonderboy Johnson – hard hitting traditional gospel music.  Keith’s new project is no different.  With this project not only do you get Keith and The Spiritual Voices, but also some of their friends.  Therefore, the project “Unity” is aptly titled Keith Wonderboy Johnson Presents The Spiritual Voices and Friends.

There are seventeen tracks on this project.  Two tracks features Bo-Peep, formerly of Revive, who has his own group – Bo-Peep and Good News.  “Restore” and “Didn’t Have To Bring Me Out” are great songs and Bo-Peep does not disappoint in bringing the the unique style and sound he made popular with Revive to these songs.

Robert Holland of Doc McKenzie and The Hi-Lites lends his vocals to the song "In Spite Of."  For those that know Robert and his vocal talents, you would expect nothing less than an outstanding song.  He delivers on this ballad.  It has a great message and the arrangement is outstanding.

Nicko Harden will certainly remind you of Al Green in his rendition of “He’ll Make A Way.”  Stan Jones is featured on the song “Trust Jesus.”  Sean Scales can be heard sharing lead duties with Lamar Scales on “My Soul Is Satisfied.”  Sean also shares lead duties with Robert Lyles on “Gotta Right.”  This is not a hard hitting song, but one with a very upbeat tempo.  It should certainly cause you to tap your toes, shake your head, and clap your hand.

The Brown Boyz slows things down with “Brighter Day.”  This is actually the song “Bertter Days” from the CD "Jump” by The Brown Boyz.

There are three songs on the project that features the late Rev. E. Stewart.  They are "There’s Not A FriendI Got A Feeling,” and “Remember Me.”    According to the label, they went into their vault and with the technology of today were able to incorporate the tracks from prior recordings of Rev. Stewart into this project.  The production on these tracks is very good.  You will not be able to tell that the songs are the result of much “cutting and pasting.”

Heze, the Spiritual Voices bass player, is featured on ”Too Good.”  This mid-tempo song should be in heavy rotation over the airways.  “Too Good” is really good.

Keith lends his vocals to all of the songs.  On some he can be heard in the background.  On others he is the lead singer or share lead duties with the featured artist.

It would be difficult to select just one favorite song from this project.  On the whole Keith Wonderboy Johnson Presents The Spiritual Voices and Friends project “unity” is great traditional gospel quartet fκte.  The project is available everywhere so, if you have not purchased this project, head to your local record store, or click on Unity to purchase it online.  We give Keith Wonderboy Johnson Presents The Spiritual Voices and Friends project “Unity” a 9 out of 10.  Click on the title to hear “Too Good."
