Apostle J L Cash & Praise

J L Cash

J L Cash

I Need To Hear From You

We begin the New Year by looking at the new CD by Apostle J L Cash & Praise.  The CD is titled I Need To Hear From You.  What a power pack CD. It is a live recording with some studio tracks mixed in.  Apostle J L Cash & Praise are the new addition to the MCG label.

For those that have never heard of this group here is a little background (as taken from their webpage) – The group started “in the mid-1980's as a revival crusade team. Apostle J. L. Cash and PRAISE have brought joy to many throughout their travels around the continental U.S. and abroad. Through numerous recordings, concerts, prison ministry and revivals, their unique and rare musical gifts produce a positive message that enraptures the spirit and brings delight to the hearts of those that encounter the experience of this group.

Their music has been described as R & B gospel with a contemporary flair, but traditionally anchored.  Apostle J. L. Cash and PRAISE have shared their gifts of music from concerts at the Pentagon in our nation's capital, to remote villages of Central America.  The group was featured in Tyler Perry's first stage play, "I Know I've Been Changed."

The group is also scheduled regularly at The House of Blues, downtown Disney to offer an unforgettable praise and worship experience to hundreds that attend the Sunday Gospel Brunch. They have appeared on the set of ABC's "Extreme Makeover Home Edition," by special request, to lead thousands of well-wishers into praise and worship while awaiting the unveiling of one of their newly constructed masterpieces. Apostle J. L. Cash and PRAISE also came highly recommended for singing in New York's "Lion King", Broadway in preparation for the opening of one of their shows in their Winter Tour schedule of 2006. Also for leading an unforgettable "Gospel Mass" for Ogilvy and Mather of New York's marketing and design team at Full Sail Performing Arts School and Disney's Animation Auditorium.”  To put it succinctly, Apostle Cash and Praise are an awesome group.

The first thing that will strike you about this CD is that the songs (and arrangements) incorporate the soulful sounds of the 70’s, inspirational lyrics and blend them exceptionally well with what we know as “gospel quartet” music.  The group’s previous CDs are We Come To Praise Him, Thanks For Making Me Wait, and A Sacrifice of Praise “Live.” The Sacrifice of Praise was recorded at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida.

The new project beings with "It's What We Do."  The other tracks are "Let It Go," "Got To Believe," "Let It Rain," "Leap Of Faith," "Standing In The Need Of Prayer," "Everything’s Gonna Be Alright," "Thanks For Making Me Wait," "Lord I Lift Your Name On High," "I Need To Hear From You," "No, Not One," and "The Lord Will Make A Way."
Apostle Cash sings lead on all tracks.  He is joined by Prophetess Darleena Wright on "It’s What We Do" and "I Need To Hear From You."  Evangelist Sharon Langley-Webber and Prophetess Darleena Wright join Apostle Cash in sharing lead duties on "Everything’s Gonna Be Alright."  Evangelist Sharon Langley-Webber and Yolanda Cash share lead duties with Apostle Cash on "No, Not One."

It would not do justice to the project to only point out one or two of the songs. All the songs will grasp your attention.  They all have great messages that will minister to you.  They will encourage you, uplift you, and have you praising our Lord and Savior.  In addition, if you liked Al Green then you will thoroughly enjoy this CD.  If you liked Teddy Pendergrass then you will be playing this CD over and over.  If you liked the arrangements of many of the songs of Marvin Gaye, The Dramatics, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Manhattans, and many of the other secular bands and groups of the 70’s you will thoroughly enjoy this CD.

Make no mistake about it this is a CD full of gospel music.  It has the words to encourage you and that ‘old school’ arrangement that may have you reminiscing about days gone by.  What a powerful combination.  Apostle Cash is indeed an extraordinary vocalist.

Overall this is a great project and should be in your collection.  You will not be disappointed.  We give
Apostle J L Cash & Praise’s I Need To Hear From You a 9 out of 10.  Click HERE to purchase the CD.  Click on the title to hear "Let It Go."
