The Lighthouse Singers

The Ministry Live In Baton Rouge II

From the beautiful city of Baton Rouge Louisiana we bring to you this month the brand new release from The Lighthouse Singers.  With this their second "Live" recording on the Innovative Record label the group shows their commitment to producing a relevant and  powerful musical ministry.  Unlike many "Live" recordings on the market today the production and presentation on this recording shows this group's determination to compete in this very competitive music market.

With Over 65 minutes of singing, Jerry Dunbar and the fellas treat the listener to a great selection of gospel songs with deep lyrical meaning.  For those who need encouragement along the Christian journey smooth ballads like "Depending On You", "He's Coming Back", and one of my favorites "Paradise" are just what the doctor ordered.  For those that really enjoy the choir sound with a quartet feel, this project even includes some great choirtet songs.  Songs like the funky "Great Things For Me" and "The Best I Can" featuring Shirley Johnson are great examples of how smoothly choirs and quartets can really work together.

For those that have ever witnessed the ministry of the Lighthouse Singers "Live" then you know they are a very versatile group.  Lead vocalists Jerry Dunbar and Levi "Ash" Wright Jr. complement one another perfectly and it's showcased on this release.  While so many of the songs stand out on this project, it would be a shame to end this review without mentioning how tight the Lighthouse Singers band is.  These guys are awesome, and probably one of the most versatile young bands on the road.

In terms of uptempo songs this project offers a few that are sure to be radio favorites.  The foot stompin' toe tappin' "Help Me Praise Him" rises to the top as the projects heavy hitter. In classic quartet style Jerry Dunbar and Levie Wright work this song to a frenzy for over 6 amazing minutes.  If you think that's something, the video version goes for much longer as Jerry & Levi really enjoy themselves.  With a mixture of great ballads and mid-tempo grooves this project  shows this young group's great talent and spirit of praise.

On the whole this project is a great new sound for those looking for a new group to add to their quartet collection.
